Itinerary
This 11-day mountain biking expedition connects Bhutan’s most iconic valleys through a continuous ride across the country’s central Himalayan spine. The journey begins in the scenic Paro Valley and flows into Thimphu, before descending through high mountain passes into the fertile rice terraces of Punakha.
From there, the route climbs into the historic ridge town of Trongsa and continues east into the spiritual heartland of Bumthang, where sacred temples and open valley trails define the riding experience. The journey then ascends into the serene glacial landscape of Phobjikha (Gangtey Valley), before looping back to Paro for departure.
Each section offers a distinct riding experience—ranging from flowing valley roads to high-altitude climbs, forest trails and remote rural paths making this a diverse and rewarding Himalayan MTB circuit with constantly changing scenery and terrain.
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you are welcomed by your cycling guide and support crew. A scenic transfer to Thimphu introduces Bhutan’s river valleys and cliffside monasteries.
If time permits, a light warm-up ride along the Wang Chhu river trail helps you adjust to altitude and terrain rhythm.
