Dragon Kingdom Enduro Trail – Bhutan Explorer Ride

On arrival at Paro International Airport, meet your cycling guide and support team. After a scenic transfer to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital valley, enjoy a gentle warm-up ride along quiet riverside tracks to begin acclimatization. Evening briefing covers terrain, safety, and route orientation.

Begin your first full ride through Thimphu’s surrounding valleys and forested ridgelines. The route includes mixed gravel roads, monastery climbs, and flowing downhill sections with panoramic views of the capital below. Cultural stops include viewpoints and heritage landmarks hidden above the valley floor.

A signature riding day. Ascend towards Dochula Pass, home to panoramic Himalayan views and 108 stupas. From here, descend through winding forest trails and ridge lines toward Phobjikha Valley. A section of the ride includes Hawala Pass single-track descent, offering a thrilling combination of speed, switchbacks, and alpine forest terrain.
Arrive in the untouched glacial valley of Phobjikha, home of the black-necked cranes.

Ride through one of Bhutan’s most sacred conservation valleys. Expect smooth gravel routes through open meadows, wetlands, and traditional farm villages. Optional forest extensions offer light technical riding. The valley’s silence and vast openness create a unique riding atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the Himalayas.

Travel towards Punakha, descending from higher alpine zones into warmer subtropical valleys. The ride includes flowing downhill sections with river views, suspension bridge crossings, and gradual entry into Punakha–Wangdue valley system. Finish near the historic riverside landscapes of Wangdue.

Cycle through Bhutan’s most fertile valley, riding along rice terraces, riverbanks, and traditional villages. Visit Punakha Dzong area surroundings and hidden farm trails that offer a blend of smooth riding and cultural immersion. Afternoon at leisure or optional monastery climb ride.

Begin return journey with a scenic transfer and ride combination. The highlight is a controlled descent ride from Dochula Pass back into Paro Valley. This long downhill section passes through dense pine forests, misty ridgelines, and panoramic viewpoints—one of the most satisfying riding days of the entire expedition.

Choose between a final exploratory MTB ride in Paro Valley or a rewarding hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), dramatically perched on a cliff face. Both options offer a powerful finale to the journey—either on wheels or on foot.
